The answer is simple! No other company world-wide can make this claim, not even Fadal! ASD has: the designer, assembler and tester of your spindle. ASD knows more about your spindle than anyone else.
ASD has several decades of experience handling virtually every issue concerning your spindle. Having been in the industry for many years, we are aware that no other source can provide to you the same resources, expertise and professionalism upon which ASD was founded for.
The benefit to our customers is that ASD has personally tested your spindle and/or its design for many years. As a result, we intimately gained knowledge of practically every issue concerning your spindle over the last twenty plus years.
In situations when ASD receives a complaint with a spindle, the consumer does not have to be placed through an approval or “ECO” process, controlled by personnel with little or no knowledge of what a spindle is, or what is the right thing to do to rectify the issue.
To the consumers’ benefit, ASD does not have a huge conglomeration of other issues to concern and deal with. Our primary concern and goal is for your spindle, and for your continued satisfaction.
Our personal “ECO” process has only one person to go through before action is taken! It goes through the designer and is handled immediately.
In addition, not only can ASD provide to our consumers a good spindle, we are very much concerned and interested in your machine’s environment. When this is combined with the production of your spindle, we believe this will enhance our ability to the greatest confidence in our product and performance.
One of the many things ASD is aware of, is knowing how crucial and importance it is for a customer to be able to gain a resource where they have the ability to contact someone who actually cares about their product and concerns, and who has the expertise and resources to be able to help immediately!

What is Advanced Spindle Design?
Advanced Spindle Designs (ASD) was founded in 2006 by Dean Gibson, after gaining more than 23 years of combined experience in the Machine Tools Industry. Being a seasoned professional and determined to provide customers with excellent service and quality at an exceptional price, ASD was created to do just that!
ASD’s primary business is providing remanufactured spindles for customers who own Fadal Vertical Machining Centers. ASD provides those customers with spindles in the 7,500 RPM, 10,000 RPM and 15,000 RPM ranges. ASD also provides spindles in the 15,000 RPM range with Ceramic bearings. (Grease Pack and Air/Oil spindles in all RPM ranges are remanufactured at ASD).
ASD also remanufactures older style “Air/Oil Mist” spindles. Customers with this type of spindle should not allow themselves to be persuaded into switching over to Grease Pack spindles, but should maintain their Air/Oil Mist Systems. In the Machine Tool Environment the Air/Oil and Air/Oil Mist type lubrication systems are much better than the grease lubricated spindles for several simple reasons:
1. Both systems keep the spindle cartridge positively charged with an air/oil mixture which prevents the machine tool coolants from penetrating the spindle cartridge.
2. Both systems also provide a constant cleaning action to the spindle bearings and races.
3. In addition, they also cool the ball bearings and races off and help evacuate that heat from the spindle. Any heat in the spindle reduces its life. The cooler your spindle runs, the longer its going to last without taking into consideration other factors such as spindle crashes and contamination.
ASD also provides a service other spindle remanufactures do not. We make several modifications to all older style spindle cartridges that no one else does. These modifications are proprietary, but they help to increase the life of the spindle and its performance.
ASD has spindle cartridges in stock and if purchased, can be shipped the same day or next day depending on time of day. Currenly, we have three methods of remanufacture:
1. You can purchase a spindle outright as long as they are in stock.
2. In a case where a spindle is needed as soon as possible, an exchange can be made. An exchange consists of a used spindle for a newly remanufactured one.
3. In most cases, we rebuild your cartridge and return it to you. All these options are discussed in further detail. See: ‘Remanufactured Spindles’.
